Probes 

1. T5 B-CSW which is used for most dozers and similar up the D11 size. This will measure the links on a R9400 without hesitation – 5 Mhz probe 

1. T2C this is used for thicker material 2.0MHz probe – the lower frequency allows greater sound penetration. 

Note: The higher the frequency, the shorter the wavelength. Thicker material needs a longer wavelength to penetrate effectively. 

Gain is the effective energy in Db that is pushed through the Cygnus probes. Gain can be increased to make the signal stronger and enable quicker measurements in thicker material. Look at the section on adjusting Gain on the Cygnus Ultrasonic Tool.
