Track Sag

Track Sag on Oval configuration Dozers is measured between the front idler and the first Carrier Roller

  1. Eliminate Initial Slack: Drive the machine forward for a short distance to remove any slack from the bottom run of the track.
  1. Create Sag: Stand on the track between the front idler and the first top carrier roller to shift the slack to the top run.
  1. Position Straight Edge: Place a straight edge (like a metal bar, ruler, or 2×4) across the track, touching the points of the front idler and the first top carrier roller.
  1. Measure the Distance: Measure the distance from the bottom of the straight edge to the lowest point of the grouser (the track shoe’s lug) on the track shoe located directly between the idler and the carrier roller.
  1. Record the Reading: The measured distance is your track sag
