Components of the Undercarriage

Check crawler shoe adjustment.

  • With the shovel on a level surface propel the machine so that the slack in the crawler shoe belt is at the top of the Crawler Frame.
  • Set brakes and lock out the shovel .
  • Clean material from the track adjustment area on the front idler.
  • Remove shim retainer bars.
  • Install jacks to remove slack from in the crawler shoe belt.
  • Remove shims from in front of idler.
  • Pressure up the jacks as the idler moves forward
  • install shim behind the idler blocks. (Use equal number shims on each side of crawler frame)
  • Once the desired track tension is achieved and shims and shim retainers are in place. Remove jacks.
  • Repeat on the on the other crawler shoe belt.

Re-torque Crawler Frames

  • Remove Supernut covers.
  • UT the tensioning rods prior to retorquing crawler frames.
  • Re torque Supernuts to 246ft lbs. using the circular torque pattern.
  • Repeat step 3 until all jack screws stabilize with less than 20 degrees of rotation.
  • Once torqueing is complete reinstall Supernut covers

Inspect Lubrication

  • Cycle the lower lube system. Check for leaks, Check for broken lube lines, and check injectors for functionality.
  • Look for grease (Load Rollers, Rear Idler, Front Idler, and Final drive areas).
