Where machines need to be moved across long distances on the mine-site, the practice of loading them onto a float and transporting them is far better than tramming the longer distance. Excessive tramming leads to excessive wear on the undercarriage components. Aim for less than 5% of machine engine hours for excavators. Try to avoid tramming dozers at high speed in all cases.
