Managing Cracks on the Mobile

1. Creating a Crack

When a crack is identified during an inspection, it must be documented carefully to ensure accurate tracking and maintenance. Follow these steps to create a new crack entry:

Open your app and made sure the equipment is loaded correctly once u loaded re-inspect by creating a new crack

Navigate to the Obs.Point/Crack section in the inspection checklist.

Tap on the Obs.Point/Crack option and provide the following details:

  • Location: Specify the exact location of the crack.
  • Size: Record the length, width, and depth of the crack.

Observations: Add detailed notes describing the crack’s characteristics.

Use the camera icon to attach clear images of the crack for reference.

2. Re-measuring a Crack on Next Inspections

During follow-up inspections, it is critical to re-measure existing cracks to monitor any changes. Follow these steps to update measurements:

  • Access the previously logged crack entry in the inspection checklist.
  • Measure the crack’s dimensions (length, width, and depth) using the same tools and techniques as before.
  • Update the measurements in the app and add comments if significant changes are observed.

3. Fixing a Crack

If a crack is deemed critical or repairable, record the action taken during the inspection process:

  • Mark the crack as “Fixed” in the app, including a description of the repair method used.
  • Attach post-repair images to verify the completion of the work.
  • Add comments summarizing the repair’s success and any follow-up recommendations.

4. Reviewing Propagation Rates

Monitoring crack growth over time is crucial for preventive maintenance. Use the following steps to analyze propagation rates:

  • Compare current crack measurements with historical data logged in the app.
  • Identify patterns or rapid growth rates that may indicate underlying structural issues.
  • Generate a report summarizing the crack’s progression and share it with the maintenance team.

5. Re-cracking

In some cases, previously repaired cracks may reopen or new cracks may form nearby. Document and manage re-cracks as follows:

  • Log the re-crack as a new entry in the app and link it to the original crack for reference.
  • Record the dimensions and observations as usual, noting any contributing factors (e.g., heavy usage or environmental conditions).
  • Flag the re-crack for priority review if it poses an immediate risk.
